A family pig saves the relationship between a mother and a son, or ruins it. Kyle, an 18-year-old college student, has just arrived home for winter break by himself due to being left alone at the airport, kickstarting the tension between him and his mothers, Nancy. He struggles with his college courses and finding a job. Nancy, on the other hand, overworks to provide for her family but exerts perfectionist expectations onto Kyle. Throughout the story, the pig, the playable character, chooses whether or not to help these family members in order to encourage them to properly speak to one another. As the story progresses, the player finds out more about the characters and their personal struggles, allowing them to respond to these situations by helping or doing nothing. There will be hints about the overall end goal of the game, which is to celebrate Kyle’s birthday, such as with the calendar or character dialogues. Therapig acts as a realistic choose-your-own-adventure story that explores the reality of personal struggles of adult life and how one’s support, albeit an unexpected one’s support, could make a difference.
